The Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) at French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) invites the public to attend a free Breast Cancer Forum on Wednesday July 8 at 5:30pm in the FHMC Auditorium.
The discussion will feature presentations from local doctors who specialize in various elements of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. It will cover topics such as breast MRI technology, reconstructive surgery, and radiation therapy. A complimentary light meal will be provided. This public forum is just one example of the 25 programs and services the HCRC offers each month at no cost to its clients. The HCRC collaborates with community and physician partners to provide supportive and educational services necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, tolerate treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience. Since the HCRC has opened its doors to the community in April of 2008, it has received more than over 5,400 visits from cancer patients and family members, as well as many community organizations, free of charge.
The HCRC, staffed by oncology professionals, houses the latest information on cancer treatment options, nutrition, pain management and stress reduction. The HCRC has hosted everything from journaling workshops, to musical therapy sessions and survivor meetings for support groups and partnering organizations. It offers the Jennifer Diamond Cancer Resource Library to provide the most current, trustworthy information on cancer. It also features an Appearance Center complete with wigs, hats, scarves and makeup, to help build confidence and self-esteem in its clients who bravely battle the disease.
