As a not-for-profit mission driven community hospital, French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) is held accountable by the community. Therefore, the community is represented by a group of esteemed business men and women as well as physicians. The hospital Community Board is an all volunteer board. It is responsible for assuring that the health services provided at the hospital are medically necessary, of high quality, safe, effective, efficient, and consistent with community standards. The hospital Community Board does this by overseeing the quality assessment, performance improvement, and patient-safety and utilization management activities of the local hospital and by assuring that these activities are consistent with standards and policies and procedures established by the Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) Board of Directors and the CHW Quality Committee.
By assuring the services provided meet community standards, the hospital Community Board, promotes patient safety and ensures the hospital is providing the highest quality of health care services to the communities we serve.
