Women's Diagnostic Center

For the Best Breast Health

Early detection is the primary weapon you have in the fight against breast cancer for both men and women. Several diagnostic tests are available to ensure that you receive optimal breast healthcare. Mammography remains the single best method for the detection of breast cancer. Modern mammography equipment is safe and uses the lowest dosage of radiation possible. Breast ultrasound, also known as sonography, is sometimes used to evaluate breast abnormalities that are found on a mammography or a physical examination. Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure and involves no radiation exposure. If you are 40 years or older, we encourage you to have yearly screening mammograms, as recommended by the American Cancer Society.

If your yearly mammogram reveals an abnormality and a Stereotactic biopsy is suggested, our Center offers you the most advanced treatment available for the diagnosis of breast cancer. It is quick, precise, and relatively less painful than other biopsy procedures and is minimally invasive. Recovery time is short and there is no significant scarring following the Stereotactic breast biopsy. Our dedicated unit allows the patient to lie in a prone position during the biopsy, which greatly increases patient comfort, minimizes movement and improves testing accuracy over older machines where a biopsy is done with the patient seated in a chair.

At the Women's Diagnostic Center, our mammography program is accredited by the American College of Radiology and the State of California Department of Health Services. Our physicians are board certified and specially trained in sophisticated procedures, and our registered technologists are highly qualified in Mammography.
