About Us:
The Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) is a one-of-a-kind resource in San Luis Obispo County for those living with cancer and their families. Our goal is to help persons with cancer learn about the disease, recognize opportunity for improved health, build a personal support system, and sense of extended family. We are dedicated to serving patients and their families: ranging from those newly diagnosed with cancer, in treatment, in recovery, and survivors.
The HCRC is made possible by a generous gift from members of the Hearst Family. This donation allows all cancer patients and families use of this unique center and its resources free of charge. The HCRC integrates many community cancer organizations under one roof with the expertise of oncology-trained professionals on staff.
Objectives:
- Helping patients maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer care.
- Providing direction and support to patients and their families through all phases of care to minimize anxiety and confusion.
- Establishing networking opportunities with other cancer patients, families, and members of the community.
- Providing continuing education through seminars for patients, their families, health professionals, volunteers and the community.
